I used to stay in Cannes for six nights straight in the past but due to changes in the industry, three nights has become just enough to get everything done. My final day in Cannes, France for 2018.

Cannes Day 1

Day 1 of my annual trip to Cannes, France. The day was spent getting to meetings: conference, hotel, lunch, in apartment, dinner.

My Annual Trip to Cannes, France

It used to be in January/February and now it’s in June. I go to Cannes, France every year for my work. I’ve been doing it for over 25 years maybe. I quite like the routine mainly because I get to see people I like which doesn’t have to be in the south of France but it’s nice. I like renting apartments, different every time, as well.

Lunching One Final Time in Chablis and Going Home

I had not planned to dine at this restaurant but after doing a bit of research decided it was appropriate for my final meal not just in Chablis but in France on my recent business-with-a-bit-of-fun-thrown-in trip.

I never knew that smoked salmon with properly sweet macaron could be so good but was also reminded that too much foie gras is never great. ^^

11 am Wine Tasting Time

My final morning in the town of Chablis, France was appropriately reserved for a wine tasting tour at the wine cellar/shop of the owner of the hotel I was staying at. 11 am on a Monday morning is never too early for some fab Chablis wine. ^^

Dining at My Lovely Hotel in Chablis

It was not really “hotel” dining but one of the best restaurants in Chablis happened to be on the same premises as my hotel (i.e. same management) and the main chef was, what!?, Japanese, which fact I was not aware of. But everything was wonderful of course with the main dish’s presentation looking very Japanese while tasting French.

Andouillette of Chablis

Being a typical dish of Chablis, I had to try the andouillette, “a variety of chitterling sausage made from pork intestine and is usually pan-fried or simmered”. It was in a casual cafe type of place I did so and I’m not sure if the taste would have been more subtle and refined if it were in a more upscale restaurant but this was good in its own way.

To Market! in Chablis, France

The Sunday morning market is the one to go to in Chablis and it felt like everyone from the small town was there buying good portions of cheese, meats, vegetables and … mattresses (I don’t think I saved my mattress shop’s photo). ^^

Correction: I found the mattress’ shop photo. Added at the end. It’s really an unimpressive mattress…

Late Lunching in Chablis

Having arrived in Chablis in the late afternoon w/o having had lunch, the right thing for me to do was visit one of the local wine shops managed by a winery and I went to the right one.
